Snow closure activities

Snow Closure Plan
 
Due to the unforeseen closure of the school due to snow, the following activities for pupils are strongly recommended to be completed to assist with their learning at home.
 
Reception
 
Share story books at home. Write about your favourite book.
Counting practice around home finding different objects to count and sort.
Play maths games and board games such as snakes and ladders to help one to one correspondence and counting.
Practise phonic speed sounds cards and red word cards.
Using and applying their maths skills by carrying out a Maths Minion task.
Access Mathletics online and complete any outstanding activities or improve scores on already completed activities.
Solve jigsaw puzzles.
 
Key Stage 1
Share reading book with an adult and other stories from home.
Practise reading and spelling their phonic and spelling list distributed at the beginning of term. Complete any unfinished grammar homework tasks.
Access Mathletics online and complete any outstanding activities or improve scores on already completed activities.
Revise all mental mathematics activities given out in reading record books this year.
Research their current topic and produce a piece of writing to present to others in class about what they found out.
 
Key Stage 2
Read a variety of books including their school reading book. Compare and contrast themes and characters. Discuss with others if you would recommend the book to a friend and give reasons for your choices.
Complete a book review about what you have read.
Practise their spelling list words for their year group. (These key spelling lists can also be found in their KS2 planners).
Access Mathletics online and complete any outstanding activities or improve scores on already completed activities.
Complete Mathletics Multiverse to become fluent in multiplication fact recall.
Revise all mental mathematics activities given out in reading record books this year.
Complete any unfinished grammar homework tasks.
 
If adult support is available, use the non-negotiables distributed at Parent’s Evening (and located under the Our School - Supporting Your Child At Home section of our website) to cover essential skill practice in writing and mathematics.
