Welcome from the Chair of Governors

At Swarland Primary School Governors, staff, parents and children work as a successful team, to create a happy, supportive, high attaining environment where everyone feels valued.

As Governors we are involved with a wide range of issues including finance, pupil welfare, policies, building/grounds maintenance and staff appointments.  However, we consider that our most important role is to ensure that our pupils are safe, happy and achieve their potential.

The School Development Plan is at the heart of Swarland Primary School’s vision and ethos.  It details our aims and objectives for the ongoing development of our School.

The priorities focus on the following four areas:

  • Quality of teaching, Learning  and Assessment
  • Pupil achievement and progress –
  • Personal Development Behaviour  and Welfare
  • Leadership and Management

Our role as Governors is to ensure that the objectives of the School Development Plan  are met and that planning for the future is both visionary and realistic. We are here to support, encourage and ask challenging questions of our whole school team thereby ensuring our children have access to an enriched education and are given the opportunities they deserve.

I look forward to meeting with current and prospective parents throughout this school year.

Warm regards,

Maureen Bickerdike
